Analysis
Examining the key events - Debating the important issues - Drawing the right conclusions
The past two years of the coronavirus pandemic have underlined how interconnected the global economy now is. The pandemic has been a major event that will have short term and long term consequences for global politics, economics and areas such as healthcare policy for years to come.
At this time of high uncertainty, there is a clear need for businesses to be able to cut through the short-term ‘media noise’ of day-to-day developments and look at the longer-term significance of recent events, to see how they will shape your business over the next month, the next year and even the next decade.
With global tensions now rising as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it remains crucial to know how global economic and political developments will affect your business. In addition, having an in-depth understanding of the factors that impact on the investment environment of a country or region remains essential to knowing whether your business will succeed.
I have 20 years’ experience of writing analysis and research pieces for both print and online media. This has provided me a high level of specialist knowledge across a variety of different countries and business areas. I have also developed an in-depth understanding of global economics and politics, plus the expertise to know when to take local factors into account, in order to produce well-informed commentary on current affairs.

THE INFORMED APPROACH
I have worked for 15 years as a contributing writer to Jane’s by IHS Markit, a leading global provider of defence, economic, political and security intelligence analysis.
My work with IHS has covered regular in-depth updates of a specific country’s domestic politics, foreign relations, security concerns and local business environment. I have also provided thought pieces on a variety of international and regional issues on an ad hoc basis over the past 15 years. This has included monthly updates on global intelligence and defence issues, as well as bespoke pieces on areas such as: the security implications of rising global food prices, mining operations in France’s overseas territories and ongoing US/Chinese foreign policy rivalry in the Pacific.
I also provide in-depth research and analysis on a variety of industrial sectors for global information provider Fitch Solutions.
